North Carolina events › Where To Eat › Eat Near Charlotte South End And Uptown

Short answer: Six Charlotte places to start, read on their own sites: Mimosa Grill in Uptown, North Italia in South End, and four others in town. Four publish hours we could read; Haberdish’s site shows two different sets for the weekend, and two have no readable hours.

How we checked: the sites of Mimosa Grill, North Italia, Haberdish, Mama Ricotta’s, Optimist Hall and Midwood Smokehouse. Sullivan’s Steakhouse returned a security block, and several other sites did not load; none of those are listed. All read on November 3, 2026. Hours, prices, rules, closures and road status change, so check the named agency or business before you rely on them. Anything we could not read is marked Not confirmed where it appears. This page lists places to eat only; we left out bars, breweries and nightlife on purpose, and we give no ratings or rankings. These are places to start, not a ranking: no source we read ranks them, and we did not taste, rate or compare. General guidance on this page is labelled as general guidance. This is not safety, medical or legal advice; where a safety or legal rule appears, the quoted words are the official source’s own.

Uptown and South End have more restaurants than we have listed. We listed only the ones whose own sites we could read, and we say what each site did and did not tell us.

Reading The Map From The Sites

Charlotte’s center is Uptown, and South End is the neighborhood named on the street signs along South Tryon and the light rail line. Of the places we could read, Mimosa Grill gives an Uptown address (327 S. Tryon St.) and North Italia gives a South End location (1414 S Tryon St., Suite 140). Neither site says how far the other is, and we did not measure it, so there is no walking time here. The other four places are listed because their sites were readable and they are in Charlotte; only Haberdish tells you a distance, about 2 miles northeast of Uptown, in its own words.

Because Uptown and South End draw conventions, game crowds and weeknight diners, hours are the practical detail. Mimosa Grill is open for lunch on weekdays and splits Saturday into a lunch and a dinner window; on Sunday it lists only 11am to 2pm. North Italia’s page showed a “Today’s Hours” line for South End but no times in the text we could read, so we have marked that Not confirmed.

Prices Only Where The Site States Them

We give a price only when the page itself states one. The only ones we read are North Italia’s promotional lunch fixe ($25, two courses, open to 4 pm) and dinner prix fixe ($40 to $45, three courses, from 4 pm to close), and both are listed as available “at select locations” for the dinner. Nothing else we read gave menu prices that we could stand behind on a changing menu.

Linking The Meal to a Day

General guidance: for a day that centers on South End, use our South End profile and decide lunch and dinner first, because the dinner places above start at different hours. For a day built around Uptown sights, the Charlotte guide and the Charlotte weekend itinerary give the structure. Click through to a restaurant’s own site for the menu and booking; we do not link to reservation engines.

What We Could Not Confirm

  • North Italia South End hours (the page had a Today’s Hours line with no times). Not confirmed
  • Midwood Smokehouse hours and barbecue style; Haberdish weekend hours (two versions). Not confirmed
  • Whether the lunch and dinner fixe offers apply to the South End location. Not confirmed
  • Distance or walking time between any two places, or from them to South End or Uptown landmarks, other than Haberdish’s own “2 miles northeast of Uptown.” Not confirmed
  • Restaurants whose sites blocked or did not load (Sullivan’s Steakhouse, among others), so they are not listed. Not confirmed
