About Clayton
Clayton's downtown runs along Main Street between Horne Square and Town Square, with what the town calls "the county's first (legal) brewery," rooftop dining, performing arts and a Saturday farmers market.
The Clayton River Walk on the Neuse runs 4 miles and is part of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail; the town says you can ride or hike "30 or more miles … all the way from Clayton to Falls Lake Dam in Raleigh." The 2026-2027 Sculpture Trail has 17 works.
The Clayton Center is a 600-seat auditorium in the restored former Clayton School, a "cornerstone of community life in Clayton since 1915." The Clayton Historic District holds "nearly 300 historic homes and buildings."
