About Waynesville

Visit Haywood calls Waynesville Haywood County’s largest town and puts it about 30 minutes west of Asheville. Main Street runs past Town Hall at 16 South Main, and Folkmoot, the international music and dance organization, has its Friendship Center on Virginia Avenue.

Lake Junaluska is next door. The Blue Ridge Parkway sections nearest Waynesville, Balsam Gap to Soco Gap, were open on November 3, 2026. We could not read the Lake Junaluska site itself, so lake trail details are left out.
