North Carolina gets three NASCAR Cup races in 2027: the All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro on May 23, the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 30 and the Bank of America 400 on Oct 17. There is no IndyCar race in the state right now.

Charlotte has the NASCAR Hall of Fame, Mooresville calls itself Race City USA, and the state gets three NASCAR Cup weekends in 2027. Below are the dates the tracks have posted, what each track is like for a visitor, and the museums you can walk into on a weekday. Dates come from the tracks’ own pages.

Back to back in May: the All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro and the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte are a week apart, so one trip can take in both. In 2027 North Wilkesboro runs a Truck, O’Reilly and Cup tripleheader, a first for the track.

Mooresville, “Race City USA”
The Town of Mooresville calls Race City USA a nickname, not an official title. Race team shops are workplaces, not attractions, so most do not take visitors. We list only places whose own site says visitors can come in.

Not confirmed: The Hendrick Motorsports museum in Concord and the Joe Gibbs Racing lobby in Huntersville block our page reader, and search results give different hours for Hendrick. We do not list either. Check hendrickmotorsports.com and joegibbsracing.com directly. We found no public visiting hours for Team Penske or Dale Earnhardt Inc. The RCR museum page gives a Lexington mailing address and says the museum is on the Welcome campus; use the museum’s phone, (336) 731-3389, for directions.
NASCAR Hall of Fame
The Hall in uptown Charlotte is the easiest NASCAR stop to fit into a trip. As of Nov 3, 2026, its posted hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day except Tuesday, when it is closed; it is also closed on Thanksgiving Day (Thursday, Nov 26, 2026). The racing simulators need riders at least 54 inches tall. Induction Weekend is January 21-23, 2027, with the Class of 2027 ceremony on January 22, 2027. Is There an IndyCar Race in North Carolina?
No. There is no IndyCar race in North Carolina right now, as of Nov 3, 2026. We read the NTT IndyCar Series schedule for 2026 and 2027 on indycar.com: it lists St. Petersburg, Long Beach, Indianapolis and the rest, and none of its pages names North Carolina, Charlotte, Concord or Rockingham. The Indy NXT schedule page showed no North Carolina race either, though that page loads its list by script, so treat that as a lighter check. If you want open-wheel racing, the closest IndyCar races are out of state. In North Carolina, open-wheel fans usually go to the local dirt and short tracks.
Not confirmed: We did not check the USF Pro Championships schedule on an official page.
Saturday Night Short Tracks
Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem is a quarter-mile track around a football field. NASCAR held its preseason Cook Out Clash there in 2025 and 2026. For 2027, news reports say the Clash goes back to Daytona and the Craftsman Truck Series comes to Bowman Gray. Hickory Motor Speedway runs Late Model Stock, Street Stock, Super Truck, Mini Stock, Crown Vic and vintage classes. Its 2026 Fall Brawl is on Saturday, Nov 7, 2026.
Not confirmed: Bowman Gray’s official site (bowmangrayracing.com) blocked our reader, so its weekly gate and race times and its 2027 dates are not confirmed here. The 2027 Clash and Truck news comes from WHQR and Jayski reports, not an official NASCAR page. Hickory posts its season schedule as flyer images we could not read; check hickorymotorspeedway.com.

- Cheapest racing dayThe NC Auto Racing Hall of Fame in Mooresville is $6 for adults and $4 for kids 6-12, and kids 5 and under are free.
- Race ticketsRace weekends at Charlotte have camping and fan zones, but ticket prices are not printed on the event pages. Buy only through the track’s own Tickets tab.
- NoiseCup cars are loud. General advice, not a track rule: bring ear protection for children. The track pages we read did not state an ear-protection rule.
- WinterSpeedway Christmas at Charlotte Motor Speedway runs Nov 20, 2026, to Jan 3, 2027, 6 to 10 p.m., with a 4-mile drive-through of lights.

The track’s 2026 and 2027 pages list the Bank of America 400 on the 1.5-mile oval. The 2026 race, on Oct 11, was run there.
